Its a SCAM

What is a scam ?  Well I pretty much think this definition is what I describe a scam as…

confidence game or other fraudulent scheme, especially for making a quick profit; swindle.

It happens to all most days (sadly, but true just in our daily shop)  but today I could have been prey to getting scammed again on my own front door step….

- what totally frustrates me about this…

1) They (said caller…) has the balls to look at you as if you are the cheat when you question them -

2) They shout at you through the closed door when you eventually close the door in their faces -

3) The time they come around – both times here has been just after lunch… who is home after lunch… Generally elderly people and mothers… who isn’t home?   – or am I stereo typing here…

4) The fact that the local police (although very friendly) and trading standards really couldn’t care less and apparently can’t do anything…

I have to say this astounded me the most and quite possibly makes me as boiling mad as the people doing the scam themselves… the local police can’t do anything…- Its not illegal ummm – ok why isn’t it illegal? but even if it isn’t how about giving the vulnerable people who these people are preying on some kind of strategy to deal with this and some helpful advice… and the same for trading standard – its not illegal – they can’t do anything… I of course could approach my local council and get no cold calling status for our area and then it would be illegal – I don’t even want to think about the amount of paper work involved in that – and of course that would probably then prevent the local school and brownies etc… calling for tins for the tombola which would therefore no doubt be met with equal opposition.

Why oh why am I surprised?  I am not sure I am – I think disappointed is more the feeling :(

We appear this huge nation of caring people – thinking we are so right in our beliefs,  social rights, human rights and justice… yet on the basic low level we are happy to let it go being taken advantage of,  we write it off – thats life… I sometimes wonder when we can’t get the basics right of what is ‘right from wrong’ what hope have we of the bigger issues of life?
